Accountant, Fund Administration

Job description: Accountant, Fund Administration

About the role

The Fund Administration team consists of several focused sub-teams that support the operational governance of Man Group's $124.6 billion* of assets under administration. The team is responsible for fund administration, fund accounting, review, service provider management & governance, closure/liquidation of funds and oversight of transfer agency activities undertaken by third parties.

Tasks

  • Reviewing draft financial reports for accuracy, consistency and completeness in accordance with the relevant reporting guidelines
  • Coordinate production of financial reports and account monitoring, including reporting and audit schedules and tracking production of financial reports against schedules; monitor status of audits to ensure deadlines are met and coordination of fund sell
  • Supporting the end-to-end fund closure and liquidation process, managing fund units from final NAV to official liquidation and distribution of payments
  • Work on identifying and escalating legal risks / identifying legislative processes across all fund structures, identifying potential impacts on existing and new funds and ensuring compliance capabilities to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Improve the class action process, working with damages experts to identify data that supports recovery opportunities and facilitates business decisions about participation in damages portfolios
  • Supporting the Fund Operations team with ad hoc projects and initiatives

Requirements

Technical skills

  • Must have experience in accounting
  • Experience in financial report preparation, fund administration or other roles involving technical review of draft financial reports
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to numerical detail
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities change frequently
  • Understanding the valuation and accounting of financial instruments
  • Experience in managing and coordinating the preparation of financial reports
  • Interest in financial markets and motivation to build a long career in the industry
