Job description: AI Engineer

Tasks

• Development, improvement and maintenance of the first core AI and machine learning platform
• Collaborate with research, commercial, technology and operational stakeholders to design, develop and deploy customized AI/ML applications and agents
• Manage the entire lifecycle of domain-specific models, including training, fine-tuning, validation, deployment and monitoring in production environments
• Update with the latest developments in the field of applied AI to identify and propose novel solutions that can drive the business forward
• Proactively collaborate with teams across the organization to drive understanding and adoption of AI tools and capabilities

Requirements

Required skills

• Demonstrable enthusiasm for AI engineering and machine learning
• Excellent software engineering skills with in-depth knowledge of Python
• No interest in or understanding of financial markets and instruments
• Relevant mathematical knowledge, e.g. statistics, optimization algorithms, linear algebra

Advantageous competencies

• Experience with GenAI to create agents, knowledge processing or automated coding tools
• Experience with training or fine-tuning generative models on curated data sets
• Experience in developing tools and technologies within systematic or discretionary investment units

Personal characteristics

• Strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical and computational content, e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering or physics from a leading university
• Confident and personable approach to software development; takes pride in technical excellence and results in others
• Demonstrable passion for technology, e.g. personal projects, open source involvement
• Intellectually robust with an analytical approach to problem solving
• Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing business needs and priorities
• Confident interpersonal skills, able to build a close working relationship with traders, quantitative researchers and senior business people
• Confident communicator; able to get a point across concisely and deal positively with conflicting views
