AI Engineer

The AI Engineer is sought to develop solutions using the latest data and machine learning techniques and build the core artificial intelligence platform and infrastructure. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of technology and finance to deliver high impact solutions.

Job description: AI Engineer

Tasks

  • Development, improvement and maintenance of the core AI platform and the machine learning platform
  • Collaborate with research, testing, technology and operations stakeholders to design, develop and deliver solutions that meet business needs across asset classes and geographies
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of model-specific models, including training, fine-tuning, validation, deployment and monitoring in production environments
  • Update with the latest developments in the field of applied AI to identify and propose novel solutions that can create further business value
  • Proactively collaborate with teams across the organization to drive understanding and adoption of AI tools and capabilities

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for AI engineering and machine learning
  • Excellent software engineering skills with a strong knowledge of Python
  • A deep interest in and understanding of financial markets and instruments
  • Relevant mathematical knowledge, e.g. statistics, optimization algorithms, linear algebra

Advantageous requirements

  • Experience with data to process algorithmic trading knowledge or create automated coding tools
  • Experience with testing or fine-tuning generative models
  • Experience in building tools and technologies within systematic or discretionary investment units

Personal characteristics

  • A strong academic background and a degree with high mathematical and computational content, e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering or physics from a leading university
  • A hands-on approach to software development; prides itself on technical excellence and metrics that reflect these values, e.g. test-driven development
  • Curiosity and passion for technology, e.g. personal projects; contributions to or participation in open source projects
  • Intellectually robust with a strong analytical approach to problem solving
  • Self-organized with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and with competing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship with traders, investors and senior executives
  • Ability to distill complexity into simple ideas
  • Confident communicator; able to explain potential concerns and ideas positively with conflicting views
