Alternate Ops Fund Accounting, Senior Associate
State Street is seeking a Senior Associate for Fund Accounting in New York to manage the day-to-day operations and compliance for a global portfolio of alternative investments. The position requires at least three years of experience in fund accounting and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Tasks
- Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the client portfolio, which consists of large complexes and individual property locations, as part of a well-organized team that handles various aspects of fund accounting for all offices.
- Managing and monitoring daily operations for a portfolio of more than 500 fund settlement issues worldwide.
- Processing inquiries from various departments and managing response times to ensure high service levels and uphold the company's reputation.
- Support the Global Client Partner (GCP) and regional business unit managers, and contribute to various projects and initiatives, including day-to-day operations, new business development, customer service, and project management.
- Analysis of fund performance, fund valuation, and portfolio performance to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in order to provide recommendations to clients, support decision-making, and improve performance.
- Identifying problems, risks, and potential difficulties in the portfolio of funds, assets, and clients, and recommending solutions and measures to mitigate, resolve, or expedite the resolution of problems and ensure client satisfaction.
- Building relationships with clients, fund managers, service providers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders, and ensuring effective communication, relationship management, and coordination across various initiatives and activities.
- Management of daily operations, transaction monitoring, compliance, and risk management to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and customer expectations, provide high-quality service, and mitigate risks.
- Management of data, key risk positions, and reporting requirements to support decision-making, enhance management effectiveness, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling, calendar management, travel arrangements, and reporting, to assist the Global Client Partner, regional business unit managers, and team members so they can focus on core strategic initiatives and to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
- Contribute to business development and client activities, including client meetings, proposal presentations, and relationship management, to support revenue growth and client acquisition.
- Support for recruitment, onboarding, and training activities to facilitate team growth, knowledge development, and service delivery.
- Manage fund accounting, reporting, and compliance; use financial and investment management skills to build trust and value for real estate agency clients.
- Supporting clients with various projects and initiatives, including day-to-day operations, transaction monitoring, compliance, and risk management.
- Performing various complex functions related to asset servicing, investment management, and financial technology solutions.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, investment management, business administration, or a related field; an MBA and/or an advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in the areas of fund accounting, fund operations, asset management, and customer service; experience in real estate financing, fund accounting, and asset management is preferred; experience managing equity and client portfolios from more than 500 fund accounting firms is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience as a fund accounting or fund operations analyst.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- Strong customer focus, excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience in a regulated environment and in complying with regulatory requirements.
