Alternative Operations Fund Accounting, Officer
State Street is seeking an Alternative Ops Fund Accounting Officer in Jersey City, NJ, to lead the operations team and ensure process compliance. The position requires 1–5 years of experience in fund accounting, strong Excel skills, and an understanding of U.S. GAAP.
Tasks
- Oversee the client team and ensure process compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines for clearly identified or foreseeable processes and tasks.
- Leading the operational team and managing employee performance, including intervention and risk management.
- Manage management reporting activities, monitor IPO data risks, and collaborate with representatives from other platforms to prepare updates to customer products and services in accordance with company policies and operational procedures.
- Carrying out, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day activities of the onshore or offshore team.
- In-depth training in operations, including fundraising, asset and liability cash management, fund administration, client reporting, financial statements, client account reviews and audit preparation, performance measurement and calculations, fees and schedules, shareholder resolutions and audit activities, cash flow management, tax reports (SWIFT confirmations), taxes, etc., as applicable.
- Enabling the successful operation of a fund that plays a key role in the rollout.
- Ensure compliance with policies and leverage the company's local management structure; build strong business relationships and establish best practices with local entities and internal teams to expand reach to a broader audience.
- Providing feedback and guidance on challenges, opportunities, and activities that can contribute to better career development and growth in specific areas.
- Professional service for the team and timely support for colleagues, ensuring compliance with local markets and the local team.
- Monitoring the environment and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of instrument data, as this is a frontline unit directly involved in the company's operations.
- Assessment of all controls and procedures for compliance, as well as review of documentation for changes.
- Serving as an advisory member for internal stakeholders through various cross-functional and partner collaborations.
- Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions, where appropriate.
- Ensuring fund tracking solutions with fund launch protocols.
- Building collaborative relationships with contacts outside one's department and achieving business goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Use of Excel skills and work location.
- 1–5 years of experience in fund accounting or fund financial reporting.
- 1–5 years of experience in fund accounting, including work with fund financial reporting, bookkeeping, taxes, operations, and administrative reporting—a track record of building strong relationships and demonstrating strong communication, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in fund accounting, as well as an understanding of fund-specific accounting and financial reporting.
- Candidates must be fluent in English (written and spoken) and have a good understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Advanced Excel analysis, quantitative analysis.
