Alternative Ops Fund Accounting, Senior Associate

A hedge fund accounting expert (senior associate) will be responsible for preparing and managing funds within the AFS Group and will act as the main point of contact for internal teams, external clients, and auditors. The position offers the opportunity to gain experience in client relationship management in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Job description

Tasks

  • Net asset value operations:
    • Coordination of workflows and daily preparation/review of daily/weekly/monthly packages
    • Review of cash and position reconciliations, validation of portfolio prices
    • Accrual of income and expenses
    • Performance/NAV calculation/review
    • Analysis of fund movements and performance in line with current market trends and regulations
    • Other ad hoc requests as needed
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with investment managers, brokers, custodian banks, and other fund participants
    • Responding to inquiries, delivering NAV-related reports, etc. by phone or in person
    • Proactively identifying/understanding customer needs and coordinating internal/external support to fulfill customer requests
    • Delivery of solutions and/or coordination of support to solve customer problems
  • Staff Management (only for FLU):
    • Monitoring and supporting employees on an ad hoc basis
    • Leading by example and supporting employee development and growth
    • Coordination of performance planning (including goal setting, regular feedback, and performance evaluations)
    • Escalation of employee complaints and concerns
  • Other:
    • Updating on new accounting standards and ensuring compliance across all accounts within the team
    • Implementation of on-the-job training initiatives and ensuring consistent coaching and mentoring/knowledge sharing
    • Evaluation of straight-through processing with simultaneous continuous improvement of efficiency
    • Preparation and delivery of daily/weekly reports and ad hoc management information
    • Support with customer migration, new business/onboarding
    • Participation in other special projects or tasks as required

Requirements

  • Communication skills:
    • Good verbal and written English skills, including report writing skills
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
  • Organizational and time management skills:
    • Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively within tight deadlines
  • Other:
    • Confidence in resolving difficult situations and proactively creating innovative solutions to problems without a high level of supervision
  • Education and preferred qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Professional accounting or finance qualification; Master's degree a plus
    • 2+ years of relevant experience (accounting)/financial services experience
    • Strong IT literacy/computer skills
    • Strong client relationship experience preferred
