Alternative Ops Fund Accounting, Senior Associate

The job as a senior associate in the Alternative Ops Fund Accounting department involves overseeing daily operations, leading a team, and working with senior management to achieve the division's goals. The focus is on managing hedge funds and private equity funds, including preparing financial reports and monitoring processes and systems.

Job description

Tasks

  • Support and acceleration of daily operations and as a subject matter expert for the processing and issuance of financial reports (balance sheet, income statement)/investment date overview/partner capital accounts and distributions (capital calls), US GAAP calculations (LLC and waterfall), and customer service (reconciliations, confirmations, reports for limited partners, NAV), as well as handling ad hoc requests.
  • Proactive provision of information and support for junior colleagues regarding process and system compliance; flexible communication with internal and external partners
  • Monitoring delivery deadlines, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of delivery deadlines, and coordinating them with the team
  • Updating and maintaining procedures for all tasks/activities and working with the manager to ensure the team's compliance with regulations, controls, and SOX
  • Responsibility for all assigned tasks, reviewing complex issues and escalating as necessary, acting with a sense of urgency to meet required delivery deadlines
  • Establishing cooperative relationships with cross-functional contacts and achieving business goals and objectives
  • Supporting the manager in improving the daily operating model; key player in implementing projects, ensuring compliance and control requirements are met
  • Coordinating on-the-job training for employees and supporting managers in personnel development and succession planning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field; accounting background is preferred
  • At least 2+ years of experience in financial services, fund accounting, and/or a similar back-office role; experience at a large accounting firm or fund company is ideal
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize under pressure; adaptability to tight deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, logical thinking, strong learning ability; a sense of responsibility and teamwork are required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit; effective communication, organizational, and negotiation skills; self-motivated, proactive, and efficient in solving complex, time-critical problems; strong analytical skills
