Alternative Specialist
The Alternatives Specialist at Julius Baer in Hong Kong supports the Private Relationship Backing Team in managing alternative investments, coordinating with relationship managers, and monitoring mandates. The role requires in-depth knowledge of wealth management, experience in portfolio monitoring, and the ability to implement complex investment strategies for high-net-worth clients.
Tasks
- Fulfill the role and responsibilities as a member of the Alternative Specialist Team.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers (RBM), Investment Advisory (IA), and Fund Execution (Fx) to identify the most suitable investment vehicles.
- Monitor the specific target assets of the participating alternative investment vehicles to ensure efficient and accurate execution.
- Perform administrative functions on behalf of the Alternative Specialist Team in the Middle Office.
- As a technical expert in alternative investments, work directly with Range Markets, Middle Office, and Fx, and serve as a buffer between RM, IA, Fx, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and coordinate the automated onboarding process, including all documents required to onboard a new alternative investment product in the middle office and FinSet.
- Work closely with RM and Fx to define explanatory statements and increase customer interest.
- Research, compile, and present investment materials and relevant sources, including investment and sales guidelines.
- Analyze client mandates and discuss investment objectives with clients; monitor client mandates and help provide alternative investment solutions and client services.
- Develop presentations and investment updates for RM, IA, Sx, and other internal stakeholders, covering investment objectives, performance updates, research, and, if necessary, adjustments to the client’s investment mandate.
- Organize the AILM Investment Committee, keep members informed about the monitoring of client mandates (e.g., new investment opportunities), and report on direct client investment mandates to the AILM Investment Committee.
- Promote investment opportunities and thematic ideas through a clearly defined investment strategy and build long-term relationships while consistently creating value.
- Coordinate regular summits for private and institutional participants, investment rights, and thematic publications, including research platforms, macroeconomic developments, and portfolio changes.
- Manage all client tiers, the client portfolio, and all third-party assets.
- Review customer accounts and provide management solutions to maximize financial capital.
- Manage and oversee the implementation of the client's investment strategy.
- Monitor and manage the client portfolio, including all of the client's investments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer and coordinate with all internal departments.
- Work with the investment team to develop and implement investment strategies.
- Monitor the market and provide customers with regular updates.
- Prepare and present investment proposals and recommendations to the client.
- Actively manage risk in the client portfolio and ensure compliance with the client's risk profile.
- Manage the customer's relationship with other third-party providers.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient workflow for all customer inquiries.

- Stay up to date on market trends and new investment products.
- Provide support in the development of new investment products and strategies.
- Work with the Legal Department to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Prepare reports for internal and external audits.
- Support the Business Development Team in identifying new business opportunities.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all customer relationships.
- Meet and exceed the customer's expectations and service level agreements.
