AML Monitoring Specialist
The AML Monitoring Specialist is responsible for monitoring and enforcing anti-money laundering (AML) standards, as well as assessing unusual activities at Julius Baer. The position is a fixed-term role ending on June 30, 2026, and requires several years of experience in legal, compliance, or audit at a globally operating bank.
Tasks
As an AML Monitoring Specialist, your main responsibilities are:- Review of supporting documentation and assessment of negative news (including assessment of the reliability of the source)
- Review and documentation of all aspects of the customer relationship and implementation of appropriate compliance measures and adequate risk mitigation and remedial measures
- Interaction with key stakeholders within the Compliance department and other parts of the organization, as well as with the Group’s international locations
- Conducting ad hoc investigations and extended due diligence reviews for specific risk categories and complex cases
- Conducting comprehensive background checks, critically evaluating and documenting information sources
- Escalation of issues identified during the review process, as well as initiation and monitoring of mitigation measures to reduce the bank's risk exposure
- Collaboration with partners from all three lines of defense (front office, compliance, and internal audit) as well as other functions (relationship managers, front office risk management, etc.) and domestic and foreign group affiliates
- Recommendation, development, and implementation of solutions for the continuous improvement of our processes, procedures, and services
Requirements
For this position, we are looking for a candidate with:- University degree (law or business administration) or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in legal, compliance, or audit at a global bank
- Ability to effectively apply global AML and CFT regulations and standards
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to communicate unpopular opinions/decisions and remain steadfast under pressure
- Proven track record in solving highly complex problems, decision-making, and prioritization
- Solution-oriented and very strong analytical skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office and IT skills
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages (e.g., French and/or Russian) is a plus
