Analyst

Man Group is seeking an experienced analyst to support the U.S. Residential Debt team in its direct credit strategy. The analyst will be responsible for assisting with the origination, undervaluation, structuring, and asset management of structured credit transactions.

Purpose of the role

Man Group’s U.S. Residential Debt Team is seeking an experienced analyst to support our multifocused direct lending strategy. This role will report directly to the Vice President and support the origination, underwriting, structuring, and asset management of structured credit transactions across the capital structure. The team focuses on bridge and opportunistic loans across various types of residential real estate, including but not limited to: construction and transition loans, net operating income (NOI) plus loans, build-to-rent loans, single-family rentals, build-for-rent loans, and multifamily renovations, with individual loans typically ranging from $5 million to $500+ million.

Specific responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a key contributor throughout the entire deal lifecycle and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a member of the Man Group U.S. Residential Debt team, this person will build cross-functional relationships with the team’s other investment strategies.

Tasks

- Structuring and analyzing potential loan transactions, including a detailed analysis of the creditworthiness of borrowers/sponsors, the feasibility of the business plan, capital structures, and exit strategies - Analysis and modeling of various financial metrics, including cash flow analysis, draw schedule projections, and waterfall analysis - Review and preparation of standardized loan memoranda with a clear presentation of the deal thesis, risk profile, and relative value

Sourcing and Origination Support

- Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with borrowers, sponsors, brokers, co-lenders, attorneys, auditors, appraisers, and other parties involved in deals - Participate in the early stages of deal screening to identify and evaluate new investment opportunities that align with the team’s strategy - Coordinating internal research and competitive landscape analysis to support sourcing and pricing decisions - Preparing and maintaining weekly pipeline materials

Due Diligence and Execution

- Leading and coordinating due diligence work streams, including borrower assessment and evaluation, ownership analysis, environmental and engineering reports, and review of the property’s lease rolls - Assisting with the structuring and closing of investments, including preparing term sheets, reviewing legal documents, and conducting commercial negotiations

- Developing, maintaining, and ensuring a thorough understanding of exposures and associated risks across a portfolio of existing loans - Reviewing and approving construction loan applications, coordinating with borrowers, third parties, and internal teams - Monitoring and managing loan performance on an individual basis, including compliance with contractual terms, business plan milestones, cash flow updates, valuation model updates, and monthly financial reports on the assets - Identifying and mitigating sources of credit deterioration and contributing to loss mitigation efforts
