Analyst, Middle Office Accounting

The Middle Office Accounting Analyst will assist with collateral pricing controls, NAV calculations and portfolio reconciliations for fixed income/multi-asset structures. The focus is on technical expertise, process improvements and collaboration in an international team.

Job description: Analyst, Middle Office Accounting

Team Context

  • The Middle Office team will be established in Sofia, Bulgaria, as part of Man Group's global strategy.
  • The team will work closely with the established teams in London and Boston.
  • The team consists of different levels of experience from analyst to manager.

Purpose of the role

  • The Middle Office team is responsible for security price controls, NAV calculations, fee modeling and portfolio reconciliations.
  • The team develops technologies to support these processes and build technical and operational expertise.

Tasks

Core operations

  • Compare and analyze financial products and derivatives, including price and profit/loss calculations.
  • Support daily operational processes, including hedge fund valuations and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams and databases to create reports and analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.

Technical development

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, controls and workflows.
  • Learn and use programming tools to improve data processes and reports.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Collaborate with team members and other departments in daily activities and long-term projects.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to various stakeholders.

Professional development

  • Participate in training opportunities in technical and financial topics.
  • Develop an understanding of investment operations and market infrastructure.
  • Contribute to process improvement and team efficiency.
  • Participate in the team's knowledge sharing and best practice process.

Requirements

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to ask questions.
  • Proven ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Strong academic background in a quantitative/analytical field (mathematics, finance and accounting, physics, engineering, computer science and statistics or similar disciplines).
  • Interest in financial markets and motivation to build a career in the industry.

Advantages (not required)

  • Previous experience in the financial services industry.
  • Professional qualifications (ACA, Chartered Financial Analyst) or studies.
  • Python programming (for non-native languages: SQL or other functional resources with enthusiasm for technical skills).
