Analyst, US Middle Office

The Analyst in the US Middle Office provides operational support to investment funds, for example by conducting security assessments, preparing reports and improving processes. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, be able to work independently and have excellent communication skills.

Job description: Analyst, US Middle Office

Tasks

  • Review of reconciliations between custodians, prime brokers and internal records of investment managers
  • Daily/weekly reconciliation and investigation of fund net asset values with fund administrators to ensure accurate financial reporting. Provide intra-NAV estimates to asset managers on request
  • Collaboration with various internal teams and databases to create reports and analyses
  • Support the team in exceptional cases to handle ad hoc requests and perform daily/weekly/monthly functions
  • Use of front office systems and other valuation tools (e.g. Bloomberg) to review and assess fund profit and loss; ad hoc reports to asset managers and/or management on performance and history
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of operational processes for 40 Act funds, including regulatory reporting, daily reconciliations and ongoing compliance tasks

Technical development

  • Contribution to the continuous improvement of systems, controls and workflows
  • Learning and using other programming tools to improve processes and reporting

Stakeholder engagement

  • Collaboration with team members and other departments in daily activities and long-term projects
  • Clear communication of results and recommendations to various stakeholders

Professional development

  • Use of training opportunities in technical and financial topics
  • Continuous analysis of changing market conditions and new fund structures
  • Active role in identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Participation in the knowledge transfer and best practices of the team

Requirements

Essential skills and characteristics

  • Robust code generating analytics roles (e.g. recent graduate or with up to one year's experience in a similar role)
  • Attentive attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a close-knit team
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to explain complex ideas
  • Instability in learning new concepts quickly
  • Strong academic background in a quantitative or analytical field (mathematics, finance and accounting, physics, engineering, computer science or other data or finance-oriented disciplines)
  • Familiarity with technology and infrastructure to build a career in the industry

Advantages (not required)

  • Previous experience in financial services or accounting
  • Professional qualifications (CFA, accounting qualifications) or studies
  • Python programming (or similar languages), SQL or equivalent experience with enthusiasm to develop technical skills
  • Familiarity with OIS/Treasury or other control systems
