Analyst/Associate, Residential Debt
Man Group is seeking an Analyst or Associate for its Residential Debt team in New York who has experience analyzing and managing real estate loans and will play a key role in financial analysis, due diligence, and deal execution. The candidate should have 1–3 years of relevant experience in residential mortgage credit, RTL origination, or similar fields.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced analyst or associate to join our residential mortgage lending team. The team focuses on the origination and management of credit investment strategies in the core real estate and corporate sectors, including senior secured loans, asset-based loans, bridge financing, lender financing, and distressed/performing commercial real estate loans. The candidate will play a key role in financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution, while adhering to the highest ethical standards.Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- RTL Underwriting: Underwriting residential real estate bridge loans (RTL) during the lending process, including detailed review of borrower profiles, property appraisals, budgets, and leverage metrics. Assisting with the origination, structuring, and underwriting of RTLs, as well as pricing decisions for portfolios. - Financial Modeling: Creation and maintenance of financial models; conducting asset analyses, cash flow analyses, scenario modeling, and net income analyses. - Sourcing & Origination: Assistance in cultivating and maintaining relationships with RTL originators/lenders/collectors and their marketing agents. Support in sourcing new transactions across the investment spectrum. - Ongoing Disposition: Support for due diligence workflows, including borrower/originator evaluation, asset analysis, and coordination of third-party reports/legal and tax advisors, service providers, appraisers, and inspectors. Assistance with the analysis of RTL loans and review of loan and portfolio performance. - Portfolio Management: Tracking loan and portfolio performance. Supporting active portfolio management across the entire portfolio. Preparing portfolio-wide reports on a quarterly basis. - Market Research: Developing a deep understanding of the RTL market through research on residential real estate investment opportunities, origination trends, and the competitive landscape to support sourcing and investment decisions.Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. - 1–3 years of relevant experience in residential mortgage lending, RTL origination/aggregation, structured finance, real estate lending, or asset-backed lending. - Significant experience in underwriting RTL loans is strongly preferred. - Familiarity with whole-loan trading or portfolio loans is a plus. - A strong academic background and CFA or CAIA are a plus. - Knowledge of Python is a plus. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex investment ideas clearly and concisely. - Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment.We offer
