The APAC ETF Capital Markets Specialist supports the capital markets activities of ETFs in the Asia Pacific region to increase liquidity and asset gathering. The specialist works closely with various teams and partners to optimize capital markets activities and build relationships.

APAC ETF Capital Markets Specialist

Tasks

  • ETF Capital Markets Oversight:
    • Respond to inquiries from ETF traders, sales traders, portfolio sales traders, equity derivatives sales traders, prime brokers, authorized participants and market makers
    • Support regional and global relationship management teams in the creation of account plans and daily interactions with key capital market partners, including regular stock market contacts
    • Verify the accuracy of daily PDF files and other relevant data distributed to the market
    • Monitor the quality of the secondary market (spreads, trading volumes, premiums/discounts, depth) of the company's ETFs on various exchanges in Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Australia)
    • Monitor the primary market activity of the company's ETFs to ensure a smooth create-redemption process
    • Support the global program for monitoring Authorized Participants
    • Create, enhance and produce trading, risk and liquidity reports with a focus on data analysis
  • Internal partnerships:
    • Deliver risk management excellence and support the business as a whole through internal and external relationship development
    • Collaborate with teams within State Street Investment Management and other State Street business units to maximize broker-dealer and exchange relationships
    • Promote understanding of the APAC SPDR business and its strategy and priorities with key internal partners
    • Work specifically with the SPDR business:
      • Distribution
      • Marketing
      • Product monitoring
  • ETF ecosystem support:
    • Support the sales teams and clients with trade and liquidity related requests, including pre- and post-trade analysis, due diligence questionnaires and price indications
    • Contribute to generating ETF capital market thought leadership through whitepapers, marketing materials or sales literature
    • Collaborate with internal partners (product monitoring, portfolio management, operations, fund management, sales, legal) on ongoing initiatives and projects related to the capital markets group
    • Work with and support the global capital markets group as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering or a similar field
  • 2-5 years of experience in the financial services industry - trading, market making, risk management, ETF operations and support
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills, VBA, PowerPoint, Word and Bloomberg
  • Programming languages (Python, SQL, others) highly desirable
  • Reliable, rigorous and able to operate in a fast-paced trading environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organized and structured way of working with the ability to prioritize
  • Strong ethics and integrity with a strong risk radar and a dedicated approach to problem solving
  • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate industry and product knowledge
  • Ability to build relationships within our team, across our organization and with our external partners
  • Professional curiosity to identify and promote improvements and opportunities, with a willingness to get into the details and shape the solution
