Application Integration Engineer

The Julius Baer Group is seeking an Application Integration Engineer who will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of FIX integrations and order-trade flows on the financial messaging infrastructure. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience with the FIX protocol and in-depth knowledge of order/trade flows, the FIX Engine, and frameworks.

Tasks

The responsibilities of the Application Integration Engineer include:
  • Development, implementation, and operation of FIX integrations and order-trade flows on the Financial Messaging Infrastructure (B2COM)
  • Project participation, customer onboarding, monitoring, and automation initiatives (meshIQ), as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding, Configuring, and Monitoring Messaging Services
  • Configuring FIX sessions, protocol parameters, and connectivity for clients, brokers, and exchanges
  • Development and maintenance of message flows within the existing middleware architecture
  • Design, coordination, and implementation of FIX certification tests for the onboarding of clients and exchanges

Engineering & Project Support

The responsibilities in the Engineering & Project Support department include:
  • Support for project inquiries related to the Markets environment (Front Office, Trading, Brokerage)
  • Analysis of new customer-specific requirements and design of corresponding integration solutions
  • Detailed root-cause analysis in the event of production incidents
  • Providing technical expertise during the customer onboarding process

Surgery & On-Call Duty

The responsibilities in the Operations & On-Call Duty department include:
  • Ensuring stable and continuous operation of the FIX and MQ messaging environment
  • Collaboration on monitoring and automation initiatives using meshIQ products
  • Participation in the rotating 24/7 on-call service

Requirements

The requirements for the Application Integration Engineer are:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science (from a university or university of applied sciences) or proven technical expertise of equivalent level
  • Technical skills:
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with the FIX protocol, including in-depth knowledge of order/trade flows, the FIX engine, and frameworks
    • Solid knowledge of Linux
    • Programming skills in at least one of the following languages: ESOL, Bash, Perl, Java
    • Extensive experience with MQ client/broker connectivity and related industry standards
    • Proven expertise in developing integration solutions in a banking environment using: IBM MQ, IBM Integration Bus (IIB), IBM ACE
    • Experience with client and exchange connectivity in financial markets
    • A solid understanding of key financial products (equities, FX, derivatives)
    • Knowledge of SWIFT (ISO 20022 / MT / MX) is a plus
