Application Manager

Tasks

• Address highly complex legacy defects that the average developer cannot analyze or resolve.
• Communicating highly technical issues to non-technical audiences.
• Providing guidance and/or technical leadership in resolving existing delivery issues.
• Establish a reputation within the organization for technical expertise by helping others solve problems they are having difficulty with.
• Development and delivery using Java, EJB, Spring Boot, Oracle, and Kafka Streaming.
• Understanding business and system requirements and translating them into technical solutions that are scalable, reliable, and fit for purpose.
• Ensuring compliance with banking standards (including the Code, security, and performance).
• This role provides access to wealth management systems (e.g., Triparty Plus, E-Assets).
• High-performance software development (including in-depth and resource-intensive Java system analysis, design, coding, and implementation of complex and customized applications).
• Working with the team to achieve goals.
• Experience with agile methods such as Scrum or Extreme Programming.
• Experience with best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI).
• Investigating and resolving production issues to maintain a stable production environment and remain calm and effective in crisis situations.

Client/Stakeholder Management (Internal and External)

• Stakeholder Management – Close collaboration with finance professionals, business change engineers, and project managers to steer and manage IT deliveries.
• Requirements analysis, effort estimation, planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Ensure awareness, engagement, and support from key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication about the project’s status throughout its entire lifecycle.
• Overseeing and reviewing technical and architectural design, enforcing architectural guidelines, and challenging the status quo.

Regulatory responsibilities and risk management

• Demonstration of appropriate values and conduct, including, but not limited to, standards for confidentiality and integrity, data breaches, fraud, tax evasion (including tax avoidance), conflict management, competence and continuous professional development, appropriate risk management, and non-compliance with anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in development using Core Java and Java EE.
• At least 3 years of experience in the financial sector.
• At least 2 years of experience with TDD.
• Highly organized and results-oriented; able to influence and steer projects to achieve key milestones and overcome challenges.
• Able to translate functional requirements into efficient and practical technical solutions. Experience in the finance/banking sector is preferred.
