Application Support Analyst

The Application Support Analyst is responsible for providing first-class application support for critical systems in the areas of trading, execution, and asset management. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of software operations support and possesses strong knowledge of the banking industry, particularly in investment banking or private banking.

Tasks

  • Provide high-quality first- and second-line application support for mission-critical systems within the trading, execution, and wealth management domains, with a primary focus on ensuring seamless operations for front-office users
  • Take overall responsibility for incident management and ensure that incidents are handled promptly and effectively in accordance with defined SLAs. Conduct thorough root cause analyses (RCA) to identify systemic issues and implement preventive measures that reduce recurrence and improve system stability
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills through clear, proactive communication in critical situations, especially under pressure, while adhering to global IT support processes and service excellence standards
  • Continuously maintain and improve comprehensive technical and operational documentation, including runbooks, known issue databases, and knowledge articles—ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and consistency within the team’s areas of responsibility
  • Support regulatory and management reporting initiatives by providing accurate, timely data and insights to ensure compliance with internal governance requirements and external obligations

Requirements

Professional and technical

  • A solid understanding of development lifecycles, such as agile methodologies
  • A solid understanding of database design, along with the ability to write scripts and complex SQL queries, is desirable
  • Experience with the technologies used in a typical client-server architecture, such as Java, Java EE, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc.), would be an advantage
  • Language skills: English (spoken and written) required; Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) preferred
