Application Support Engineer

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems and infrastructures and supporting the business units in solving technical problems. You will be part of the Enterprise Engineering Support team and work proactively to solve problems and ensure system availability.

Job description: Application Support Engineer

Tasks

  • 1st line application support for business systems with escalation to 2nd line application support team and directly to vendors
  • Respond to queries and resolve issues
  • Knowledge, Recording and taking ownership of issues using Zendesk, Stack, ServiceNow or 3rd system
  • Focused and well organized, to effectively manage daily issues
  • Liaise with internal technology teams, end users or 3rd parties as appropriate. Helpful attitude and assist users in line with our values and our service level agreements
  • Analyzing the root impact of various tasks and proactively solving them
  • Attend to all service requests; monitoring, escalation and root cause analysis
  • Filing ITGL, scripts to resolve user queries, testing, lease management by following change controls across environments
  • Contribute to procedures and policies by keeping them up to date with the knowledge base that are available for use
  • Prepare and distribute daily handover and release notes
  • Work with internal and external auditors

Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Relevant tech 1st line / helpdesk support experience
  • Experience with Windows based environment; Windows 10, Windows Servers, Office 365
  • Ability to multitask
  • Experience with Windows based infrastructure; Windows 10, Windows Servers, Office 365
  • Motivically accurate approach to data entry and results review is necessary; high attention to detail

Desirable

  • Database skills; Oracle, MS SQL - script writing abilities would be advantageous
  • Experience on Operating Systems; Unix/Linux
  • Experience with scripting; Python, Perl, PowerShell, Nagios, ELK, Automate, SMIIT and
  • Exposure to applications such as Azure DevOps, Slack, Stop, ServiceNow, firefly
  • ITIL Foundation; some experience or support of ITIL/service management and
  • Gaining knowledge of Financial markets and instruments; e.g. Equities, Derivatives, Options, Credits etc., through previous experience within the financial services sector.
