Application Support Engineer

About the role
This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in Man's Enterprise Engineering Support team, which covers a mixture of business systems and technical infrastructure, including third party products and proprietary software.
You will be responsible for ensuring business systems are working properly and escalating issues to senior engineers or third party providers.
Our systems run 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Tasks
- 2nd line application support for services with escalation to the 2nd line application support team and our developers
- Ownership of service requests and incidents raised on our systems or those of our third party providers
- Troubleshoot, record and track issues with Zendesk, Slack, ServiceNow or third-party systems and resolve in a timely manner
- Communication with internal technology teams, end users or third-party providers
- Focus on effective management of day-to-day issues
Requirements
Required skills
- Relevant ITIL v4 / helpdesk support experience
- Experience with Windows-based environment; Windows 10, Windows Server, Office 365
- Ability to multi-task and stay on task under pressure is essential
- Very precise approach to data entry and checking results is necessary, high attention to detail
Desired skills
- Database skills: Oracle, MS SQL, script writing skills would be an advantage
- Knowledge of operating systems (Unix / Linux)
- Experience with VM, Python, MS SQL, PowerShell
- Knowledge of databases (Oracle, Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase)
- Network / firewall applications - some experience with 2nd line support or trading systems
- Some knowledge of financial markets and/or instruments, with broad asset class - equities, derivatives, options, credit, etc., through previous experience in the financial services sector
