Application Support Engineer

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for solving complex problems and handling requests in the area of business systems and technology at Man Group. You will be part of the Enterprise Engineering Support team and assist with second and third level technical support.

Job description: Application Support Engineer

Tasks

  • 2nd line application support for business systems with escalation to 2nd line application support team and our 3rd line engineers
  • Ownership and delivery until the final solution
  • Know, record and track ownership of issues with Zendesk, Stack, ServiceNow or 3rd party system and follow up until final resolution
  • Communication with internal technology teams, end users or 3rd parties
  • Ownership and management of our technical debt, working closely with 1st line to resolve operational issues
  • Analysis of risks and effects of various tasks and prioritization
  • Monitoring the health of business systems, investigating, analyzing and escalating alerts
  • Writing SQL scripts to resolve user queries, testing and lease management by following change controls across operating systems
  • Contribute to procedures and policies by updating the knowledge base available to users
  • Preparation and distribution of daily handover and release notes
  • Cooperation with internal and external auditors

Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Relevant experience in 1st or 2nd line support
  • Experience with Windows-based environment; Windows 10, Windows Server, Office 365
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Methodical approach to data entry and checking results; high attention to detail

Desirable

  • Database skills: Oracle, MS SQL - scripting skills would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of distributed systems (Unix/Linux)
  • Experience with .Net, Python, MBSE, Regula, PowerShell
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows)
  • Experience with SQL, Oracle, Sybase, MQ, Opster, Nagios, ELC Autonomic, Babinet, (SDIT) and Neoview applications
  • Experience with portfolio management, risk, accounting and reconciliations
  • Basic knowledge of financial markets and instruments, with broad asset classes - shares, derivatives, options, loans, etc.
