Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Your role

As an AI Engineer at Bank J. Safra Sarasin within our newly established AI Center of Excellence (CoE), you will serve as a technical architect and help build our private banking AI ecosystem. You will bridge the gap between high-level AI strategy and production-ready implementation by designing the core frameworks that drive our generative AI and agentic initiatives.

Your tasks

- Design and implement complex AI workflows using state-of-the-art orchestration frameworks such as LiteLLM, n8n, LangChain, LangGraph, and CrewAI to support stateful, multi-turn interactions - Manage the integration of multi-model environments into enterprise ecosystems, optimized for latency, cost, and token usage - Design high-performance Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases such as pgvector or Azure AI Search to improve model accuracy with proprietary banking data - Implementing a "security-first" design for AI infrastructures to ensure data residency, data protection compliance, and secure on-premises or private cloud LLM deployments - Leading the development of production-ready AI agents for task automation, such as auto-healing code agents or intelligent document search assistants - Defining DevOps and MLOps standards, CI/CD pipelines for AI models, and automated testing frameworks to ensure the reliability of AI in production

Your profile

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field - At least 7 years of experience in software development and architecture, with a proven track record of delivering AI/ML solutions in complex, regulated environments (finance, insurance, or healthcare) - Expertise in the field of LLM integration, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning - Strong proficiency in Python, Java (Spring Boot), and/or Node.js - Extensive experience with cloud-native architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless architectures - Strong understanding of data architecture, including SQL, NoSQL, and the management of production or transactional process data - Familiarity with OT/IT security, IAM/PAM architecture, and secure data sharing governance - Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
