Asset Management Analyst, Residential Debt
Man Group is seeking an experienced asset management analyst for its Residential Debt team in New York to assist with the day-to-day management of residential real estate loans and other investments. The analyst will be responsible for monitoring portfolio performance metrics, managing loan facilities, and preparing reports.
Purpose of the role
Man Group’s U.S. Residential Debt Team is seeking an experienced analyst to join our Real Debt Asset Management team in New York. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day management of residential real estate loans, construction loans, credit lines, and other residential debt investments.Specific responsibilities
- Execution of daily operational activities related to residential mortgages, including construction disbursements and service onboarding
- Management of credit lines, including credit line calculations, disbursement requests, service inspections, and review of financial obligations
- Proactive identification and monitoring of portfolio performance metrics to identify and mitigate credit deterioration
- Support for loan migration activities, including verification of the borrower’s compliance with loan agreement terms, loan-to-value ratios, financing structures, foreclosure coordination, and REO sales, while managing the assets
- Preparation of regular portfolio performance reports and analyses for senior investment professionals and management
- Coordinate with multiple internal teams, including Legal, Finance, Risk, Operations, and Technology, to ensure the accuracy of financial reports and the underlying data
Key competencies
- Degree in finance, real estate, economics, mathematics, physics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in asset management or a related field, preferably in residential real estate, commercial real estate, mortgage banking, loan servicing, specialized servicing, credit assessment, or similar roles
- Practical experience with RITL, GGSR, bridge loans, or construction loans; strongly preferred
- Familiarity with loan servicing rights and workout procedures; significant experience in a similar role is a major plus
- Exposure to residential real estate construction plans, cost reviews, and schedule feasibility
- Familiarity with credit cascades, valuation methods, and credit portfolio risk management strategies
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and gap analysis management tools
- Strong judgment in real estate creditworthiness
- Ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate investment opportunities with a critical eye, and to collaborate effectively and consistently with clients
- Team-oriented and cooperative, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a flexible and adaptable work style
