Assistant Relationship Manager (Southeast Asia)

The Assistant Relationship Manager (South East Asia) supports one or more Relationship Managers in client relations, calendar management, and the organization of business trips. The position requires a strong service orientation, excellent communication skills, and experience in client relations within the private banking sector.

Tasks

- Manages the calendars of relationship managers, prepares for client meetings, organizes business trips, and handles the preparation and follow-up for client calls, meetings, or business trips on behalf of relationship managers - Creates presentations, assists with the preparation of investment proposals, and supports marketing activities as needed (client receptions, meetings, business trips, events, etc.) - Ensures that work is covered during their own absence

Business Management

- Regularly gathers relevant information necessary for the job - Organizes work efficiently and in compliance with procedures, ensuring that supervisors are informed in a timely and appropriate manner - Conducts regular reviews, updates, and documents work - Assists Relationship Managers in implementing projects and initiatives - Offers professional suggestions for improvements based on experience, incidents, or observations - Manages the expense reimbursement process for Relationship Managers

Risk management & controls

- Actively assists with risk management (supporting the first line of defense), e.g., by reviewing customer documentation, raising concerns, tracking issues, and escalating matters when uncertain - Ensures compliance with local regulations and internal policies and standards (e.g., new account openings, payment instructions, review of customer calls, or signing off at their level of authority, etc.) in collaboration with the respective relationship managers and team leaders - Ensures that outstanding issues and isolated deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner - Ensures that ethical and compliant behavior is demonstrated within their area of responsibility - Ensures that the documentation of customer interactions/customer instructions in the relevant tools (e.g., CRM, DAS) is accurate, meaningful, and understandable

Professional skills

- Strong familiarity with the geographic markets covered, i.e., familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment as well as cultural sensitivity - A solid understanding of relevant products and services in private banking - Basic knowledge of global financial markets and current industry trends

Training and experience

- A strong university degree in finance, economics, or a related field - At least 5 years of relevant experience in client relationship management in private banking - Understanding of execution and back-office processes, as well as legal and compliance procedures - Proven track record in managing banking clients with complex needs (onboarding new clients, maintaining and expanding existing relationships) - Practical knowledge of transaction banking system applications - Sufficient knowledge of financial terminals (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) - Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) - Relevant regulatory license from the HKMA / SFC
