Associate Cross-Asset Trader
The Associate Cross-Asset Trader at Man Group in Hong Kong is responsible for trading various assets while complying with regulatory and legal requirements. The position requires experience in trading financial instruments, proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL, and a strong academic background.
Tasks
- Be aware of the regulatory and legal framework and act accordingly, including, but not limited to:
- Market Abuse Regulation
- Risk management
- Ensure that trading risks are consistent with the company’s approved trading limits and thresholds, as well as its prudent levels.
Policies and Procedures
- Be familiar with, understand, and comply with Man’s global compliance policies and all internal procedures relevant to the dealer’s business operations, as well as the requirements set forth in Man’s Employee Handbook and Global Code of Ethics, and in our global and local compliance manuals.
- Obtain the necessary permits for trading and follow the approved instructions from P&M.
- Report all trades to the risk manager. All trades must be entered correctly into the trading system.
- Report any personal regulatory concerns to the approved trader manager/COO to whom the trader reports. Keep a record of all trading details in the trade recording system.
Best Execution
- Continuously improve processes to ensure that Man meets its best execution obligations for client orders.
- Maintain a robust post-trade review process: "Post-Trade Framework for Systematic/High-Frequency Trading – Use quantitative metrics with threshold deviations to identify optimal execution strategies and discuss them with the P&M to best achieve the P&M’s trading and investment objectives."
- Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to improve the performance of our systematic and discretionary strategies.

- Ability to contribute to the understanding of AI models and integrate AI-driven practices into trading desk workflows to achieve significant optimization.
Broker Evaluation
- Monitor the broker list and ensure that traffic is routed properly, taking into account metrics such as broker performance, costs, and commissions.
- Provide feedback to brokers on areas where improvements can be made, such as ratings, etc.
- A proactive approach to market analysis and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with the operations teams to ensure that there are no disruptions or bottlenecks among brokers that could result in missed execution opportunities.
Requirements
- 2.5+ years of trading experience at a financial institution or relevant technical experience.
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or SQL.
- A solid general understanding of financial markets, combined with a genuine interest and willingness to explore how technology and data can improve performance.
