Associate, Discretionary Investment Specialist
The job posting describes a position as Associate, Discretionary Investment Specialist at Man Group in New York, where the applicant will play an important role in the investment process and build close relationships with private credit investment managers and sales teams. Purpose of the role
The role involves developing significant technical expertise in key private credit investment funds within Mans Discretionary business. As such, you must be able to quickly assess risk, returns, performance, investments, and effective structures. These materials must be presented regularly to our institutional and retail credit books.Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining a complete set of investment documentation, including:
- Fund marketing (new product launches)
- Monthly performance reports
- Technical content (questions and customer inquiries)
- Sales materials (presentation materials, investment products, product capabilities, and product stories)
- Formulation of competitive and differentiated product messages to position strategies competitively
- Development of investment solutions and product strategies for various internal and external stakeholders (including investors), as an expert
- Communication about specific market events, performance updates, and product milestones
- Collaborate with the private brand management team and other relevant teams within the company to ensure that investment activity is of the highest quality.
- Training and implementation of portfolio construction/analysis and frequent presentations to portfolio managers, sales staff, and the entire company
- Identifying opportunities and initiating projects where investment services can add value to the portfolio
- Coordination to ensure that all relevant messages and information are incorporated into all materials
- Ensuring that all materials are reviewed, analyzed, and that the messages are incorporated into all materials
- Representing IS internally and serving as a positive role model for younger team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required. CFA, CAIA, or IMC certification is preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of experience in client service or content creation within the industry and a solid understanding of the investment approach
- Strong understanding of investment management across a wide range of products
- Strong technical skills
- Ability to collaborate with senior members of IS and Investment Management to support sales priorities
- Investment communication skills, both written and verbal. Familiarity with institutional/retail client specifications and requirements.
- Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize work effectively.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer requirements
- Ability to work successfully in an entrepreneurial environment in order to continuously improve relevant skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail and accuracy
