Associate Engineer - Finance & People Technology

Man Group is seeking an Associate Engineer for the Finance & People Technology team to support the development, operation, and improvement of the Steel platform and, as a versatile engineer, to understand and enhance various systems. The ideal candidate should have experience in engineering or a related field and be able to quickly learn new systems and work in a fast-paced environment.

Tasks

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot platforms across Finance and People—with Workday at the core, plus Greenhouse, CultureShop, Kyros, Floogate, and other real estate platforms—resolving technical debt, user requests, and implementing minor improvements
  • Owner of some of the BAU support related to integrations between companies—much of it orchestrated by Markets and other middleware
  • Monitoring the technology and resolving integration errors; applying appropriate root-cause fixes across workstreams
  • Other Programs — Integrating ML/AI and robotics; improving trading tools; leveraging dark data; and ensuring better and faster execution — using classic code, agile methods, and Man Group’s in-house AI to automate processes, prototyping, and tooling
  • Implementation of best practices for scalability, sustainability, and performance
  • Maintaining strict change control and audit documentation

Requirements

  • Some professional experience—an internship, a placement year, a graduate program, or 1–2 years in a tech, engineering, BA, MSc, or finance role
  • Exposure to Investment Banking Platforms
  • A serious approach to working with multiple SaaS platforms simultaneously; ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in hands-on system configuration and change control practices
  • Basic understanding of integrations (APIs, file-based interfaces, middleware/ESB such as Kafka/Vertx) and how data flows between systems
  • A proven track record of delivering tangible, "well-coded" automations/apps—plus proficiency in (or a willingness to learn) Java/C/C++

Advantages

  • Modern office at Office@Workcampus with easy access to public transportation and amenities
  • Flexible working hours
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • 28 days of vacation per year
  • Premium Annuity Insurance
  • Employee-to-Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional days off for long-term service and to show appreciation for loyalty
  • Opportunities for professional development, including internal tech talks
  • Opportunities to participate in community events and get involved in the open-source community
