Associate Engineer

As an Associate Engineer, you will be part of the Business and Investment Production Support (BIPS) team and will support the development and maintenance of the production environment as well as various processes such as database issues, modeling tools, and analytics. You will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing production applications, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and implementing process improvements.

Job Title: Associate Engineer

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

Type of Employment: Full-time

Tasks

  • Control M Scheduling: Establish and improve standards within the Control M scheduling software.
  • Metadata migration: Introducing new models and analyses into the production environment.
  • Production monitoring: Monitoring and maintenance of production applications to ensure stability and efficiency.
  • Sprint collaboration: Participate in weekly sprints to prioritize and assign work items, including schedule, data, and code changes.
  • Software configuration: Collaborate with developers to align schedule changes with code modifications, installation, verification, and decommissioning.
  • Incident management: Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to service problems, coordinating with necessary teams, companies, and suppliers.
  • Change management: Adherence to change management best practices while adapting to existing processes when implementing changes.
  • Release management: Execution of weekly release processes, transition of code changes from the staging to the production environment.
  • Process improvement: Recommendation and implementation of workflow improvements, as well as adoption and support of case-based projects focused on production maintenance, process improvements, and meeting business requirements.
  • On-call duty: Ability and willingness to take on on-call responsibilities in a weekly rotation, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

Essential requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more of the following languages.
  • Experience working with Linux environments.
  • Experience with source code control tools and coordination of code changes.
  • Understanding of incident management frameworks and best practices.
  • Understanding of IT service and/or management processes.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts.

Advantageous requirements

  • Degree in computer science or a related STEM field.
  • Experience in a production environment with deadlines.
  • Experience with infrastructure tools and Control M scheduling.
  • Experience with source code control tools and coordination of code changes.
  • Understanding of incident management frameworks and best practices.
  • Understanding of IT service and/or management processes.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts.

Salary and benefits

The expected base salary for this position is in the following range:

US pay range: $91,500 – $130,000 USD
