Associate, L1 Support Engineer - Data Platform Cloud Support

The position of L1 Support Engineer at Northern Trust in Chicago involves providing first- and second-level technical support for the data platform cloud environment, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and coordination with infrastructure teams.

Tasks

  • Provision of remote and/or on-site support (first or second level) for Linux servers, desktop workstations, mobile devices, network equipment, terminals, peripheral devices, and related applications (end-user software and application tools).
  • Monitoring and alerting for all shared and private/stakeholder systems within the associated on-premises systems and managed applications.
  • Coordinate with network teams to resolve tickets related to connectivity issues.
  • Escalating issues to infrastructure or monitoring teams so they can make changes or adjustments.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the upgrade path and the implementation of operational processes.
  • Responsibility for maintaining the test platform tools.
  • Troubleshooting, analysis, and provision of solutions for all production-related tickets and/or operational issues related to the platform.
  • Coordination and collaboration with other teams to deliver a complete solution.
  • Provision of first-line operational support for the wealth management platform and applications.
  • Monitoring of alarm flows/incident tickets and associated combinations of incidents and service requests.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with platform engineering teams to ensure that all issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Provision of third-level incident management through coordination and collaboration with solution providers, vendors, and support partners.
  • Coordination with end users and change management to resolve outages or incidents or minimize their impact.
  • User management, including AD integration, onboarding/offboarding, rights management, AD/permissions, data backup/management, data and environment management, cloud environment, backup/restore, and physical/supply support.
  • Support for the maintenance and monitoring of applications and infrastructure to ensure consistent operation.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support to end users to help them resolve system and application issues.
  • Coordinate technical escalations to L2/L3 support teams as needed to ensure service continuity.
  • Preparation and maintenance of all required documentation, including initial and periodic operating instructions.
  • Completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines; escalating issues.
  • Compliance with established procedures for routine administrative/desk-based activities.
  • Demonstrating a solid understanding of assigned tasks and the ability to meet customer expectations.
  • Appropriate verification of the accuracy of data and processes to ensure the accuracy of the output.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of IT experience in a technical business area (such as a data lake), but within financial services or similar organizations.
  • A high level of technical proficiency.
  • As a 1st Line Engineer: A passion for learning and a hands-on approach.
  • Bachelor's degree.
