Associate L1 Support Engineer, Java Cloud

Tasks

• Support for middleware, security, cloud management, and the development of modules in Spring Boot 2 for the cloud and servers to ensure stability, middleware, deployment, and operations.
• Provide associate-level support to a Java Cloud Support Engineer for web and general support of key middleware components to ensure that all customer deployments and interactions function properly and that the infrastructure is available 24/7.
• Support in various areas (Java, API, Python, and other types of code) to assist Client Services.
• Technical and functional support for various middleware and other components, including J2EE (Java Server Pages/JSPs, Java Servlets), Java SE Servlets, as well as support for third-party software and middleware teams.
• Providing Tier I support (excluding incident resolution) for web-based products to IT customers.
• Monitor logs for unresponsive web-based applications and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Performing routine tasks on Linux/Unix systems, including executing commands and interpreting and troubleshooting results.
• Monitoring dashboards for resource and application activity.
• Coordinate with other IT teams to troubleshoot incidents and routine issues, including monitoring tools (SiteS, Snipe, New Relic, Kibana, Syslog, etc.), and maintain documentation on recurring issues.
• Application Monitoring.
• Developing scripts and managing tickets by managing and coordinating all types of support ticketing tasks (including Linux, AWS, GCP management, microservices, and web app scalability, etc.) involving workloads and resources.
• Troubleshooting, understanding and resolving component shifts, and applying best practices to determine the most productive way forward.
• Working with database functions such as technology and back-end Java Spring MVC / JAX.

Requirements

• Professional-level knowledge of Java and cloud environments.
• Knowledge and expertise with common middleware platforms, as well as a solid understanding of the Linux operating system (RHEL 7.5, RHEL 8.2, or 8) and MySQL/MariaDB.
• The ability to think outside the box to find possible solutions, since every customer scenario may be different.
• An interest in technology and a curiosity to learn, combined with a methodical approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Proven experience with Linux, including process management tasks, application support, and troubleshooting Java web application errors (JVM monitoring and memory issues).
• Proven success in providing general support for cloud services (AWS, Alibaba, GCP).
• Support, maintenance, and monitoring of applications, including but not limited to RESTful APIs and cloud-based orchestration tools, as well as associated APIs and SDKs.
• Monitoring and understanding operational and infrastructure alert trends to proactively improve technical efficiency.
• Monitoring and understanding the operational health indicators (availability/status) of IT infrastructure and application services, and triggering alerts in the event of failures.
• Expertise in monitoring and automation.
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation.
• Experience in developing and maintaining tools.
• Technical expertise in J2EE applications (including JavaSE, J2EE, JAX-RS, JSPs/servlets, HTML, CSS, LDAP, Tomcat/OJB
