Associate Portfolio Manager

The Associate Portfolio Manager at Man Group supports the Systematic Fixed Income team in identifying and implementing investment strategies and performs tasks in the areas of research, investment, and technology. The role involves monitoring portfolio risks, analyzing portfolio returns, and preparing tactical analyses to improve strategy and facilitate client communication.

Tasks

The position of Associate Portfolio Manager involves a wide range of research, investment, and technical tasks within the systematic fixed-income team (credit and rates). The successful candidate will be part of a team of portfolio managers and portfolio analysts working to identify and implement investment strategies. This includes validating inputs for our models and analyzing the outputs from quantitative research, which are incorporated into our investment process. The successful candidate will also monitor portfolio risk, analyze portfolio returns, and prepare tactical analyses to enhance the strategy and communicate with clients.

Primary responsibilities

  • Work with portfolio managers to validate the inputs and outputs of our investment signals and assist with the day-to-day management of the portfolio.
  • Analyzing the results of our portfolio construction process to ensure the integrity of our investment philosophy.
  • Supporting the research and portfolio management teams in improving existing signals and developing new ones.
  • Work with large datasets and collaborate with external data providers to identify data quality issues.
  • Designing tools for evaluating portfolio implementation and performance.
  • Conducting analyses to improve strategy and enhance communication with customers.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or accounting.
  • Previous experience with programming in Python, MATLAB, or R is required.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of accounting and financial analysis.
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills.
  • A strong work ethic and flexible working hours.
  • Attention to detail, good communication skills, and a cooperative personality.
