Associate Portfolio Manager

The Associate Portfolio Manager will support the portfolio management team in implementing equity strategies, monitoring portfolio performance and risk, and generating investment ideas. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of portfolio managers and analysts to provide daily coverage of investment ideas and processes.

Associate Portfolio Manager

Tasks

  • Work with the portfolio management team to implement Numeric's equity strategies and develop new strategies
  • Interact daily with the Portfolio Analytics team in the group for portfolio revaluation questions
  • Make ad-hoc decisions for concentrated trades
  • Research improvements to all aspects of the investment process
  • Work with the research group to develop new alpha models
  • Create meaningful analysis and commentary to understand and communicate drivers of performance to clients/prospects
  • Discuss market development and strategy performance with customers/prospects

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative equity portfolio management and research
  • A degree (Ph.D., M.S.) in a quantitative discipline or an MBA with a finance specialization is strongly preferred
  • Ability to improve and develop quantitative models and conduct quantitative/statistical research in the areas of stock selection, portfolio construction and risk modeling
  • Strong analytical understanding of accounting and financial analysis
  • Experience in working with programming languages (e.g. Python) or other statistical computers
  • Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative personality
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and be a leader for sophisticated institutional investors and advisors
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
