The Associate Portfolio Manager supports the portfolio management team in the implementation of equity strategies, market analysis and research tasks. The focus is on the daily implementation of investment strategies, monitoring performance and risks as well as analyzing market and strategy performance for clients and prospects.

Tasks

  • Work with the portfolio management team to implement Numeric's equity strategies and develop new strategies
  • Daily interaction with the Portfolio Analytics group on portfolio rebalancing issues
  • Ad hoc decisions on agreed trades
  • Research into improvements to all aspects of the investment process
  • Collaboration with the research group to develop new alpha models
  • Produce meaningful analysis and commentary to understand the drivers of performance and communicate to clients/prospects
  • Discussion of market development and strategy performance with customers/prospects

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative equity portfolio management and research
  • A degree (Ph.D., M.S.) in a quantitative discipline or an MBA with a finance specialization is strongly preferred
  • Ability to improve and develop quantitative models and conduct quantitative/statistical research in the areas of stock selection, portfolio construction and risk modeling
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial analysis
  • Extensive experience with programming in Python/R or other statistical computing packages
  • Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative personality
  • Ability to build close relationships and strong networks with sophisticated institutional investors and advisors
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • A passion for investing
  • Strong sense of integrity and work ethic
