Job description: Associate Portfolio Manager

Tasks

• Work with the portfolio management team to implement Numeric's equity strategies and develop new strategies
• Daily interaction with the Portfolio Analytics group on portfolio rebalancing issues
• Make ad hoc decisions on proposed trades
• Research into improvements to all aspects of the investment process
• Collaboration with the research group to develop new alpha models
• Provide insightful analysis and commentary to understand and communicate drivers of performance to clients/prospects
• Discuss market environment and strategy performance with customers/prospects

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in quantitative equity portfolio management and research
• A degree (Ph.D., M.S.) in a quantitative discipline or an MBA with a finance specialization is strongly preferred
• Ability to improve and develop quantitative models and conduct quantitative/statistical research in the areas of stock selection, portfolio construction and risk modeling
• Strong analytical understanding of accounting and financial analysis
• Extensive experience with programming in R/Python or other statistical computing packages
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and a cooperative personality
• Ability to build strong client relationships and have access to sophisticated institutional investors and advisors
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
