Associate Portfolio Manager
The Associate Portfolio Manager supports the portfolio management team in the implementation of equity strategies, analysis and risk management. The focus is on monitoring portfolio risks, communicating with clients and developing new strategies.
Job description: Associate Portfolio Manager
Tasks
- Work with the portfolio management team to implement Numeric's equity strategies and develop new strategies
- Daily interaction with the Portfolio Analytics group on portfolio rebalancing issues
- Make ad hoc decisions on proposed trades
- Research into improvements to all aspects of the investment process
- Collaboration with the research group to develop new alpha models
- Provide insightful analysis and commentary to understand and communicate drivers of performance to clients/prospects
- Discuss market environment and strategy performance with customers/prospects
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in quantitative equity portfolio management and research
- A degree (Ph.D., M.S.) in a quantitative discipline or an MBA with a finance specialization is strongly preferred
- Ability to improve and develop quantitative models and conduct quantitative/statistical research in the areas of stock selection, portfolio construction and risk modeling
- Strong analytical understanding of accounting and financial analysis
- Extensive experience with programming in R/Python or other statistical computing packages
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and a cooperative personality
- Ability to build strong client relationships and have access to sophisticated institutional investors and advisors
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
