Associate Portfolio Manager

The Associate Portfolio Manager supports the investment team in managing investment portfolios and works closely with the team to generate qualitative signals for tactical decisions. The role also includes monitoring portfolio performance, conducting analysis, and communicating with clients.

Tasks

The Associate Portfolio Manager position involves a wide range of research, investment, and technical responsibilities within the systematic fixed income team (credit and rates). The successful candidate will work closely with the investment team and provide output from qualitative signals used for tactical decisions. The Associate Portfolio Manager will also monitor portfolio performance, perform analysis for strategy implementation and client communications, and support the day-to-day implementation of Numerics strategies. Successful candidates will also participate in research projects in collaboration with the Numerics research team.

Primary responsibilities

  • Working with portfolio managers to validate the inputs and outputs of our investment signals and assist with the day-to-day management of the portfolio
  • Analysis of the expenditures of our portfolio construction process to ensure the integrity of our investment philosophy
  • Supporting research and portfolio management teams in improving existing signals and creating new ones
  • Working with large data sets and collaborating with external data providers to identify data quality issues
  • Development of tools for evaluating portfolio implementation and performance
  • Conducting analyses for strategy improvement and communication with customers

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience with coding in Python, Matlab, or R required
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • 0-3 years of experience in quantitative analysis preferred
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial analysis
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills
  • Strong work ethic and flexible working hours
  • Detail-oriented, good communication skills, and a cooperative personality
