Associate Portfolio Manager

The Associate Portfolio Manager at Man Group supports the Global Markets team in developing and implementing investment strategies and is responsible for analyzing portfolio data and monitoring model performance. The position requires a strong understanding of finance, statistics, and programming, as well as experience in quantitative analysis.

Tasks

The Associate Portfolio Manager position involves a wide range of research, investment, and technical responsibilities within the Global Markets team. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of other portfolio managers and portfolio analysts to develop and implement investment strategies. This includes inputting data into our models and outputting the quantitative strategies we use to make buy, sell, and hold recommendations. The Associate Portfolio Manager is responsible for monitoring model performance, analyzing portfolio performance, and conducting research.

Primary responsibilities

  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to validate the inputs and outputs of our investment signals and assist with the day-to-day management of the portfolio
  • Analysis of the output of our portfolio construction process to ensure the integrity of our investment philosophy
  • Supporting the research and portfolio management teams in improving existing signals and creating new ones
  • Collaborating with large data sets and liaising with external data providers to identify data quality issues
  • Development of tools for evaluating portfolio support and performance
  • Conducting analyses to improve strategy and customer communication

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or accounting
  • Previous experience with coding in Python, Matlab, or R is required.

  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial analysis
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills
  • Strong work ethic and flexible working hours
  • Training in Excel, good communication skills, and a cooperative personality
