BlackRock Investment Institute, AI Solutions, Research Associate
The job posting describes a position as a Research Associate at the BlackRock Investment Institute, AI Solutions, in New York, where the candidate will work on developing AI software and solutions for researching and analyzing global economic trends and investment strategies. Tasks
- Partnering with BII's technologists to implement the institute's AI strategy and roadmap - Design, prototype, and develop AI and data analytics workflows, tools, and systems that enhance research, content creation, and agency systems - Collaborate with PMG and BII technology teams to define and deliver BII’s AI architecture, financial workflows, and operating models - Contribute to AI research to enable more efficient processes (e.g., natural language processing) and develop tools for alternative data sources, including market data and products as well as in-house analytics—TMS AI research, content production, and client-facing metrics - Design, build, and implement tools to structure AI models, backtesting workflows, AI data pipelines, and processes - Determine suitable AI solutions for BII members and BII Technology - Identify and curate best-in-class solutions for BII - Working closely with BII members on model development and maintenance - Helping to measure impact through thought leadership, quality, scalability, and extensibility - Promoting and showcasing BII’s efforts in the field of AI, both internally and externallyRequirements
- Master's degree and/or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, artificial intelligence, and/or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience in AI, technology, and product development
- Strong knowledge of Python and modern development techniques
- Experience with Unix-like operating systems; Linux or similar
- Experience with Python and/or similar programming languages
- Ability to quickly prototype solutions while maintaining a pragmatic approach
- Strong understanding of AI and data science concepts, including model quality and validation
- Ability to think creatively and consider multiple alternative solutions and approaches to solving complex problems
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Previous work experience or a strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, asset allocation, and investment research
