Business Control
The position in the Financial Data & Business Analytics department at Nomura/Instinet involves the analysis, monitoring, and governance of financial, liquidity, and cost data for the Clearing & Settlement Services Division. The role focuses on providing cost transparency, creating reports and dashboards, and supporting efforts to maximize profits and improve operational efficiency.
Tasks
- Responsibility for cost provision.
- Supporting business operations in identifying the most efficient and cost-effective source of business information and forecasts.
- Creation of a series of standard and ad hoc tables for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as part of the business control process.
- Preparing a reconciliation package to ensure that fees (and applicable discounts) for a specific client are accurate across all of Nomura's global locations.
- Generation of client reports by product, trading desk, and client.
- End-User Training on Business Reporting.
- Design and development of dashboard solutions, reports, and user interaction methods.
- End-User Training and Support.
- Collaborate with Business Control and Financial Operations on performance management matters as needed.
- Provision of dedicated business costing for the North American and U.K. operations, including fixed, variable, and transaction costs related to the Clearing & Settlement Services business.
- Ensuring that the relationship between customer activity, transaction pricing, settlement, revenue allocation, bookkeeping, and billing is understood, appropriately controlled, and accurately reported.
- Maximize profits by proactively identifying margin issues, seeking potential solutions, and creating operational efficiencies to support the goals of the front office and finance.
- Reducing operating costs and increasing productivity.
- Development of business case proposals to determine the costs and efficiencies of business operations.
- Aligning financial models and metrics with business objectives.
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, as well as internal policies and processes.
- Responsibility for the financial and analyst data that supports the Clearing & Settlement Services Desk.
- Leading the development, maintenance, and governance of liquidity reports and risk metrics.
- Monitoring of financial and transaction data for the Business Control team by Business Operations.
- Surveillance, monitoring, and analysis of relevant NT and FMI data by Business Operations.
- Responsibility for financial models and key EUCs (End User Computations/Controls) operated within Business Operations and IT.
- Assuming responsibility for key financial data, analytical models, reporting, and automation.
- Responsibility for all aspects of business and management information.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders in business, technology, product, and other relevant functions.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel skills and experience in developing and maintaining complex data models.
- Experience in analyzing revenue, costs, invoices, and operating profit, and/or in managing the quality of forecast data.
- Ability to identify and assess the underlying causes of problems.
- Ability to evaluate all options for solving problems and select the best one.
