Business Risk Manager - COO Area

The Business Risk Manager (BRM) in the COO division is responsible for designing, implementing, and further developing a comprehensive risk management system within the COO function in Switzerland. The main tasks include identifying risks, developing controls, and monitoring implementation.

Tasks

  • The Swiss COO Business Risk Manager (BRM) is responsible for designing, implementing, and developing a comprehensive and robust risk and control framework within the Chief Operating Officer (COO) function in Switzerland.
  • Main tasks:
    • Identifying key risks associated with COO processes in Switzerland and designing the necessary mitigating controls to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
    • Regular review and improvement of the COO area's control framework and monitoring of its implementation at the Swiss level
    • Monitoring the effectiveness of the control environment and coordinating risk control self-assessment for the COO area in Switzerland
    • Work closely with key stakeholders within the COO function to define action plans to mitigate residual risks and eliminate control gaps.
    • Supporting Swiss COO teams in analyzing the causes of operational risk events and identifying corrective measures
    • Monitoring the implementation of findings and recommendations made by internal and external auditors
    • Proactive escalation of material incidents and control weaknesses
    • Coordination of reporting on COO risk management matters to management committees in Switzerland
    • Conducting thematic reviews of critical processes in order to scrutinize existing processes
    • Partnership with banking legal entities outside Switzerland to promote consistency and harmonization of risk management practices within the COO area

Requirements

  • University degree in management, economics, or technical fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
  • At least 15 years of experience in the banking sector, preferably in a risk and control, audit, or business risk management role within private banking
  • Strong understanding of banking processes, products, and the associated regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Knowledge of German, French, or Italian would be a plus.
  • Self-motivated, organized, able to work under pressure and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and multicultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Innovative mindset, able to identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiency
