Business Risk Manager

Position Overview
- The Business Risk Manager plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating enterprise-wide risks across business lines and support functions.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders, this role ensures that risks are properly understood, monitored, and managed in line with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.
- Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of risk frameworks, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate risk insights to a diverse range of audiences.
Responsibilities
- Risk Framework:
- Supports the establishment, operation, and maintenance of a consistent and effective business risk management framework—in close coordination with the CRO functions. This includes matters specifically related to front-office risk governance, remediation, policy standards, training, and audit.
- Risk Assessment and Reviews:
- Provides risk input for business initiatives and cases
- Identifies risks, reviews challenges, processes, and systems, assesses people, and proposes mitigation measures
- Supports the Head of BRM in conducting thematic and business-specific risk reviews
- Makes significant risks transparent to management and ensures that mitigation or acceptance is documented
- Reporting:
- Contributes to Management Reporting
- Participates in market management committees regarding risk management topics
- Highlights Misconduct to Senior Management
- Highlights Breaches to Head BRM
- Interaction with Stakeholders:
- Ensures close and systematic collaboration and information flow between the first line of defense and the second and third lines of defense
- Supports supervisory reviews
- Supports audits and internal/external reviews
- Regulatory Responsibilities / OR Risk Management:
- Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviors, including but not limited to standardization, honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Implements appropriate measures in collaboration with stakeholders in the event of negative review results (where deemed appropriate)
- Defines and monitors internal risk management measures; conducts risk campaigns
- Identifies awareness and training needs; contributes to risk training and awareness campaigns on the front lines
- Analyze front-to-back processes from a risk perspective
- Monitors risks, manages incidents, and oversees remediation measures and projects
- Supports and ensures that audit issues related to the front office (regulator, external auditors, and GIA) are resolved
Requirements
- A solid understanding of risk management concepts in a banking environment; prior experience in a risk and control function (Risk, Compliance, or Internal Audit) is highly valued.
- Proficiency in risk management frameworks and methodologies
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory expectations in banking is a strong advantage, although it is not strictly required, as on-the-job training and coaching can be provided.
