Business Risk Manager - PB COO
The Business Risk Manager leads first-line-of-defense risk management for the Private Banking COO department in Singapore and oversees key risk areas such as compliance, suitability, and fraud prevention. As an experienced independent operator, he works closely with internal stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, as well as to foster a strong risk culture.
Tasks
- Designs and implements a comprehensive approach to business risk management for all relevant risk types within the First Line of Defense (FLOD) at Global PbCOO in Singapore to ensure effective monitoring of the testing program and clear documentation of key controls and residual risks.
- Leads the risk function and promotes a proactive approach to risk management throughout the company, with a focus on materiality and the appropriate handling and escalation of issues to senior stakeholders.
- Ensures that all control and monitoring activities are carried out in a timely and effective manner, including investment suitability, cross-border transactions, and regulatory changes.
- Identifies and reports on control issues and improves the control framework in accordance with regulatory requirements by designing and providing input on corrective actions, including investment suitability, customer protection, and control changes.
- Collaborates with the Second Line of Defense, the global FUD, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that responsibilities are clearly understood and carried out. Identifies and promotes the effective reporting of control issues through regular testing and reporting.
- Manages the FUD Risk Scorecard for the global PbCOO in Singapore, prepares management reports, and proactively identifies and manages new risks and corrective actions related to regulatory requirements, serving as a trusted risk advocate.
- Builds and maintains relationships and credibility at the senior level with key stakeholders, the second line of defense, and global functions to influence risk-related decisions and business strategies.
- Guides and supports younger team members and other stakeholders, including front-office management, compliance, and other relevant internal stakeholders. Establishes and embeds a culture of accountability within the function, promotes a strong sense of risk awareness and strong customer trust, as well as customer-focused service standards.
- Actively promotes and contributes to a robust and transparent culture within the risk management and control environment, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to foster a strong focus on risk and customers.
- Identifies and manages potential risks to the company through a data-driven approach, ensuring proper tracking of key performance indicators, timely execution of controls, and timely escalation of issues. Proactively identifies and mitigates risks and resolves problems, supports corrective actions and the resolution of control issues, including by providing input on and helping to design corrective action plans and their outcomes.
- Ensure that all controls are robust and effective, and that issues are escalated in a timely and effective manner, including anti-fraud and customer protection controls. This includes designing and providing input on corrective actions, including investment suitability, cross-border transactions, and regulatory changes.
