Client Onboarding Officer

The Client Onboarding Officer is responsible for performing and reviewing name checks for customer onboarding processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize the risk of financial crime. The focus is on identifying potential matches with watchlists and verifying customer identities.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for name checks
  • Responsible for performing and reviewing name checks for customer onboarding, periodic and triggering event checks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize the risk of financial crimes, including money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Perform thorough name checks using internal and external databases to identify potential matches with watchlists, sanctions lists, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and negative media
  • Investigate and resolve false positives through additional research and analysis to verify customer identities and assess potential risk factors.
  • Review customer documentation, corroborative evidence, and KYC profiles to ensure that related parties are subject to verification checks.
  • Interact with CRO/CSO to ensure that name check hits are properly resolved/rejected and guide CRO/CSO to escalate to the compliance department as needed for proper handling.
  • Ensure timely completion of name checks to facilitate new account openings, periodic and triggering event checks, and follow up with CRO/CSO to request supplemental documentation as needed.

Qualification requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Solid knowledge of AML/KYC risks with at least 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in private banking
  • Proven ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision, adapting to changing work priorities
