**Client Onboarding Officer**
The Client Onboarding Officer is responsible for reviewing and assessing AML/KYC risks for standard and medium-risk client relationships at Julius Baer Singapore. The role also involves advising front-line staff and collaborating with various teams to ensure that client relationships comply with regulatory requirements.
Job description
Tasks
- Review and assessment of AML/KYC risks for standard and medium-risk customer relationships booked in JBBS, and escalation of higher-risk accounts to standard and medium-risk customer relationships
- Review and assessment of the adequacy of source-of-wealth narratives and corroborations submitted by the front office for new banking customers and existing customers
- Review and assessment of the risk of complex legal structures
- Treatment of genuine matches for sanctions and other AML/CFT risks identified during the bank's customer onboarding name screening
- Advising front-line staff on KYC/CDD-related matters
- Advising management and local risk committees on the AML/CFT risk of a client relationship
- Strong commitment to quality and continuous process improvement initiatives
Personnel management
- Support senior management in ensuring that client relationships being engaged are compliant with regulations and internal policies and actively manage operational, regulatory and reputational risks
Customer management (internal & external)
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders such as the JBBS front office, legal, compliance, and risk management teams
- Assess AML/KYC risks and approve or reject applications for new accounts for standard and medium-risk customer relationships in accordance with internal guidelines and procedures; escalate higher-risk customer relationships to Compliance for review as necessary.
- Collaboration with headquarters and foreign offices (especially Hong Kong, Dubai, and Thailand) in providing contributions for account opening
Regulatory responsibilities and/or risk management
- Demonstrate appropriate values and behaviors, including but not limited to standards of honesty and integrity, care and diligence, fair treatment (fair treatment of clients), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, appropriate risk management and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure that KYC/CDD issues are appropriately identified, assessed and documented
- Ensuring that the customer relationship is not established if KYC/CDD measures cannot be completed
Requirements
Professional and technical
- At least 2 years of experience in KYC onboarding or AML, preferably in private banking
- A good understanding of the private banking and wealth management industry
- Strong knowledge of MAS 626 Notice & Guidelines
- A good understanding of the private banking or trust industry
- Experience in creating reports and strong Excel skills

- Strong personality with good organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent command of spoken and written English; other languages are an advantage
