Communications Manager

The Communications Manager at Man Group in London supports the development and implementation of the global internal and external communications strategy and serves as the point of contact for activities in the EMEA and APAC regions. The role includes creating and distributing communications materials, maintaining media relations, and supporting executives during interviews and events.

Purpose of the role

Support the development and implementation of Man Group's global internal and external communications strategy. The Communications Manager will serve as a key point of contact for supporting US and EMEA activities.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on all aspects of communications, including reputation management, internal communications, and media relations for Man Group.
  • Support and manage the creation and distribution of high-quality communications materials, including press releases, thought leadership content, media FAQs, internal campaigns, social media, and investor announcements.
  • Serving as one of the primary points of contact for activities related to the company's systematic capabilities in EMEA and APAC.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local media through networking events, coffee/lunch meetings, and hosting media "breakfast briefings."
  • Regular monitoring of news to identify interesting angles, introduce speakers, and inform executives about market developments.
  • Preparing speakers for interviews by creating briefing materials, conducting mock sessions, and assisting with rehearsals.
  • Create and distribute media pitches on a regular basis to leverage Man Group's content/announcements/capabilities to secure coverage and interview opportunities.
  • Engaging and promoting media relations and ensuring compliance with internal governance agreements.
  • Monitoring and managing media coverage at EMEA conferences.
  • Monitoring media coverage and activities that require proactive responses/updates and summaries.
  • Support in creating and reviewing internal communications and managing logistics for employee events, including team learning and development programs, executive visits, and investor/customer meetings.
  • Build a strong internal network to collaborate with the investment team, risk team, sales, marketing, legal, and compliance, and ensure proactive feedback loops.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day management of the media relations team and selected members of the Executive Committee, including the use of media coverage on social profiles.
  • Review/processing of all employee communications from the People Team to managers and various employee groups, as required.
  • Support in delivering financial results as required, including supporting their activities and identifying areas where they can engage.

Skills and experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in communications in the financial or professional services industry, preferably with a PR agency.
  • A good understanding of and interest in asset management, preferably hedge funds, is required.
  • Experience in financial communications would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Experience in managing relationships with institutional and private investors is preferred.
