Compliance and AML Monitoring Officer
The position of Compliance AML Monitoring Officer at Bank J. Safra Sarasin in Geneva involves analyzing and monitoring transactions for money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as preparing reports and communicating with the relevant authorities. The ideal candidate has at least 4–5 years of experience in AML monitoring and sanctions compliance within the Swiss banking sector, as well as a college degree in law, economics, or a related field.
Your role
As the Compliance AML Monitoring Officer at the bank, you are a self-motivated, rigorous team player seeking a challenging and international work environment, and you provide high-quality transaction-based AML analyses, controls, and reports for the bank’s compliance department.Your Responsibilities
- Analyzing and monitoring high-risk transactions to ensure compliance with embargoes and the application of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations, and conducting additional due diligence processes with the first line of defense
- Analyzing incidents identified by filtering and screening solutions and taking action based on the results of the analysis
- Monitoring of AML-related transactions prior to execution (pre-approvals) and after execution (KYC alerts)
- Verification of Customer Transactions
- Conducting investigations and preparing the necessary communications to the relevant authorities
- Responding to inquiries from government agencies
- Creating ad hoc AML reports
- Participation in ad hoc projects related to team activities
- Active participation in improving process efficiency
Your profile
- Higher education, such as a degree from a university of applied sciences or a traditional university in law, economics, or an equivalent program (e.g., a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Compliance Management)
- At least 4–5 years of relevant professional experience in the area of AML monitoring and sanctions within the Swiss banking industry
- Strong analytical mind with the ability to work thoroughly, flexibly, and independently
- A strong communicator and team player with a proactive attitude who takes full responsibility for tasks and areas of responsibility
- Solution-oriented with a pragmatic approach and a willingness to work closely with colleagues and stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Excellent interpersonal skills, hands-on approach
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and a high sense of responsibility
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, familiarity with Avaloq, and strong Excel skills are a plus
- Fluent in French and English; fluency in German or another language is a plus
