Compliance Officer - Client Onboarding (f/m/d)
The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Compliance Officer for the Client Onboarding Team who will focus on ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering standards and assessing unusual activities. As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will be responsible for handling complex cases and monitoring transactions.
Tasks
As a Compliance Officer - Client Onboarding, you are responsible for enforcing anti-money laundering (AML) standards and evaluating unusual activities. Your tasks include:- Conduct employee-related investigations and reviews to propose mitigating measures and sanctions in close collaboration with HR and the business
- Conduct comprehensive background checks, critically evaluate sources of information, and document them
- Identify issues that arise during the review process, escalate them, and implement mitigating measures to reduce the bank's risk
- Collaborate with partners from all three lines of defense (front office, compliance, and internal audit) as well as other functions (relationship managers, front-office risk management, etc.) and domestic and international group members
- Provide training and training materials on compliance topics
- Recommend, develop, and implement solutions for the continuous improvement of our processes, procedures, and services
- Responsible for fraud prevention and detection, and for managing internal and external fraud risk (for Employee Coverage only)
Specific tasks
- Independent review of unusual transactions detected by the IT-based AML monitoring system, analysis of the economic background, and assessment of whether the transaction is consistent with the customer's KYC profile.
- Supporting relationship managers and executives in implementing and monitoring compliance matters
- Conducting client onboarding reviews, including assessments of KYC, client storyline, cash flow, CDB (Agreement on the Swiss Banking Code of Conduct regarding the exercise of due diligence), and event-triggered KYC reviews
Requirements
- Strong computer skills; required knowledge of due diligence search tools: Name Check, Lexis-Nexis, Sion, Spark, Skyminder, Credits, Wealth-X
- Good knowledge of MS Office and IT flair
- Ability to effectively apply practical knowledge of global AML and CFT regulations and standards, as well as current money laundering schemes, to effectively identify and mitigate risks
- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions: Ability to interpret a wide range of data and handle complex situations
