Compliance Officer
EFG International is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer for its Financial Crime Compliance team in Luxembourg to ensure compliance with AML/CFT and sanctions regulations and to support the business in serving clients in a secure and sustainable manner. The Compliance Officer will assess complex client relationships and financial crime risks and assist the company in developing and implementing local FCC policies and procedures.

Our Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) department in Luxembourg is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to support and challenge the business units regarding complex client relationships and financial crime risks. You will play a key role in ensuring that EFG Luxembourg complies with AML/CFT, sanctions, and other financial crime regulations, while at the same time enabling the business units to serve clients in a secure and sustainable manner.Tasks
- Conduct comprehensive KYC and financial crime risk assessments for new and existing customers (individuals and complex legal structures).
- Prepare clear compliance analyses and recommendations for account opening and verification, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and plausibility.
- Conduct comprehensive periodic reviews of customer relationships, including complex structures, analyzing cash flows and ensuring consistency with KYC information and risk classification.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of local FCC policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and CSSF regulations.
- Conduct AML/CFT risk assessments and support the improvement of risk-based controls and monitoring tools.
- Assess client-related tax transparency risks, including reviewing FATCA and CRS documentation.
- Investigate unusual or suspicious activities, prepare internal reports, and submit SARs/STRs and other required notifications to the Luxembourg authorities.
- Provide daily advisory support to the front office and other functions on FCC-related matters.
- Monitor regulatory and industry-specific developments and ensure that the FCC framework is updated in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of FCC training for staff.
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections related to the fight against financial crime.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in compliance, preferably in combating financial crime in the banking or financial services sector.
- A strong understanding of AML/CFT and sanctions regulations, as well as industry best practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex structures and documents (e.g., trusts, corporate structures, foundations) and identify key risks.
- Professional-level English (spoken and written); French or German is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and common sense.
- Feeling comfortable at work, both working independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with AML and sanctions monitoring tools and systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and resolve potential conflicts constructively.
