Compliance Officer - Enhanced Due Diligence & Client Reviews

The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Compliance Officer for Enhanced Due Diligence and Client Reviews to act as gatekeeper in the Compliance Department and ensure compliance with local and international regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in anti-money laundering and know-your-client procedures, as well as at least one year of professional experience in the financial sector.

Job description

The Compliance Officer - Enhanced Due Diligence & Client Reviews is responsible for monitoring negative news and media alerts and acts as a gatekeeper in the compliance department. He or she ensures that local and international regulations and the requirements of the head office are complied with.

Personal contribution and responsibilities

The tasks include:
  • Reviewing customer due diligence information and documents, and following up on outstanding issues with the front office to ensure compliance with know-your-client and anti-money laundering requirements
  • Conducting and documenting customer risk assessments during the onboarding process, client reviews, and trigger event reviews, as well as escalating anti-money laundering/CDD issues when necessary
  • Participation in ad hoc inquiries from and support in handling inspections by regulatory authorities, internal audit, and central financial crime prevention
  • Conducting compliance monitoring in connection with anti-money laundering/CDD

Your profile

The requirements are:
  • University degree, preferably in law, finance, accounting, or business administration
  • Strong knowledge in the area of anti-money laundering/know your client/CDD
  • Good analytical skills
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the financial services industry, preferably in AML compliance/KYC onboarding and client review
  • A Certified AML Professional (CAMLP) certificate under the Enhanced Competency Framework on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the AML guidelines of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities & Futures Commission (SFC) is an advantage.
