The Compliance Officer Italy supports compliance with Italian and European financial regulations, particularly in the area of insurance brokerage activities, and advises the management on compliance matters. Job description

Tasks

  • General/Compliance Culture:
    • Ensuring compliance with applicable banking and securities laws, regulations, and internal guidelines relating to financial regulation, in particular insurance-related rules (e.g., IDD)
    • Updating and deepening knowledge of all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures
  • Relationship with regulatory and supervisory authorities:
    • Supporting the CMLRO and the Head of Product and Service Compatibility in maintaining a solid and regular relationship with the Italian authorities and other relevant regulatory bodies
    • Ensuring compliance with reporting obligations to local regulatory authorities
  • Compliance Advisory Service:
    • Advising and communicating with BJBJE management on compliance matters
    • Advising the company and management on regulatory compliance matters
    • Preparation and review of compliance guidelines and internal guidelines/procedures
    • Participation in projects on new regulatory initiatives and contribution to the improvement of regulatory processes
    • Information from the management of BJBJE on regulatory changes relevant to their area of responsibility
    • Participation in the process for new business activities as a regulatory advisor
    • Updating and deepening knowledge of all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures
  • Compliance program:
    • Implementation and maintenance of all relevant global standards within the framework of the global Julius Baer compliance program at BJBJE, taking into account relevant local regulations and laws
    • Regular analysis of business activities in the local unit to assess existing compliance risks

Requirements

  • Profile:
    • Master's degree in economics, finance or law
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the European financial sector (audit, banking, etc.)
    • Good understanding of European financial laws and regulations, especially insurance-related rules (e.g., IDD)
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to define efficient compliance solutions for regulatory requirements
  • Personal qualities:
    • Passionate with an appetite for change and implementation, with both a control and service mentality
    • Ability to delve deeply into topics and work hands-on when necessary
    • Ability to communicate effectively and build and maintain solid relationships with stakeholders locally and globally
    • Strong negotiating partner

  • Professional and technical skills:
    • Experienced compliance officer with significant experience in EU regulations and Italian regulations
    • Significant experience in the international asset management industry (HNWI, UHNWI)
    • Detailed knowledge of regulations governing investment services, with a particular focus on insurance products
    • Experience in dealing with regulatory authorities and their requirements
    • Project experience as manager and project member
