Northern Trust is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer for Canada who will be responsible for monitoring AML and sanctions violations, as well as conducting compliance audits and training sessions.
Tasks
- Review, monitoring, and reporting on suspicious activities, AML reports, and other compliance issues.
- Preparation and maintenance of compliance files and documentation, including transaction reports, customer due diligence files, and internal compliance reports.
- Support in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
- Analysis and investigation of potential compliance issues, including money laundering (AML), terrorist financing (CTF), and sanctions violations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, law enforcement agencies, and business units, to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Providing compliance training and guidance to employees as needed.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to develop and implement compliance strategies and initiatives.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Contribute to the overall risk management framework by identifying and mitigating compliance risks.
- Provide updates on changes to compliance regulations and industry best practices, and recommend necessary updates to internal policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage a performance-driven and technically complex delivery environment for varying volumes.
- Success with large-scale projects, including problem-solving, customer escalations, and corrective actions.
- Maintaining or improving team metrics such as quality, customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue targets.
- Quickly adapt to changes in business, technology, customer expectations, and/or organizational requirements to ensure the best possible customer experience and results.
- Identification and communication of key messages throughout the NTPL process (control plans and related supporting activities).
- Serves as the sole point of contact for an assigned QA group (Leads, SREs) and is capable of acting as a liaison with other key groups (OTC).
- Research and development of improvements to NTPL processes, products, and services, as well as associated improvement plans.
- Promoting improvement processes through the organization, management, and implementation of improvement plan activities.
- Planning and prioritizing projects (e.g., SLA/SLI agreements, escalation procedures, process and technology improvements).
- Mentoring, empowerment, and development of individuals, their communities, and professional relationships.
- Speeding up the onboarding process for new colleagues and fostering their performance.
- Planning and taking responsibility for work in their area of expertise, while taking into account overall business and customer experience goals.
- Promote first-class service delivery through performance management of all customer-focused operations and activities.
- Ensuring a customer-centric approach to service delivery, actively involving customers, addressing their needs, and continuously improving service quality and efficiency.
- Monitoring management and ensuring that the necessary resources are provided to achieve the desired results.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of SLA metrics; maintain transparent communication with stakeholders regarding performance.
- Development and implementation of strategic action plans to achieve operational and customer success.
