Credit Officer, Derivatives Competence Center

Julius Baer is seeking a Credit Officer for the Derivatives Competence Center who will structure and approve credit facilities for complex client portfolios and work closely with relationship managers and product experts. Job Description

  • We are seeking a highly motivated Client Officer to join the Derivatives Competence Center team within Credit Risk. This is a unique opportunity to develop expertise at the intersection of credit risk, derivatives, market risk, and business banking, contributing to the creation of lasting client wealth.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and approve credit facilities for MNM & FSO clients engaged in FX, equity OTC, and ETF trading.
  • Work closely with relationship managers and product specialists to support clients' business while maintaining sound risk standards.
  • Monitor trading counterparties' credit exposure and manage trading arrangements for sophisticated client portfolios.
  • Manage margin defaults, limit increases, and limit changes.
  • Provide expert advice on risk models related to credit risk needs.
  • Support the expansion of OTC and equity OTC products in both bilateral transactions and position monitoring services.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives related to margining systems, collateral management, and risk models.
  • Provide support on the supernumerary desk as a subject matter expert by handling special orders (in capital/risk management and reporting on credit fund trends).
  • Build trusted relationships with front-office traders, legal departments, and key partners.
  • Support transaction executions through close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Work with legal counsel and external counsel on specialized credit instruments and contracts.
  • Communicate risk recommendations clearly and effectively.
  • Contribute to projects focused on risk monitoring, infrastructure, and process improvements.
  • Support automation and data optimization within the monitoring and reporting functions.
  • Engage with internal audit teams on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to manage risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate appropriate values and behaviors, including (but not limited to) standards of honesty, integrity, fair use, and diligence in sharing limited personal data; management of conflicts of interest, compliance, and continuous development; adequate market integrity; and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in credit risk / a training and support role in market derivatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risk.
  • A university degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in market trading activities.
  • ATM and ETF equity derivatives.
  • Understanding of margining, collateral management, and trading.
  • Strong structured derivatives products and risk, regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across functional units—from trading to credit—that manage large client trading portfolios.
  • Knowledge of credit models, data systems, and trading platforms such as Mnemonic, MarketFactory, Bloomberg, SDC, and Capital would be advantageous.
